It happened on a pleasantly warm spring night. My room was filled with the sweet scent of jasmine, and the moon lit my room like a dim oil lamp hanging in the sky. As I was lying on my bed with my eyes closed, I saw faint images of faces and strange figures dancing in the darkness.
It wasn’t long until I started drifting off into a void; falling out of my body. When I opened my eyes, I was standing on the edge of some kind of opening surrounded by grey clouds and sheer darkness. My curiosity got the best of me, so I jumped through it, not knowing what was on the other side.
For a moment I blacked out, then suddenly I was standing in a large, unfamiliar room.
I was exploring the strange place when I noticed that something was standing. Out of sheer curiosity I put my head out of a window and saw a grotesque, ghoul-like creature staring at me. It wore a ragged blue shirt and ripped shorts. It had stringy grey hair and looked like a corpse in an advanced state of decay. I felt frightened, and turned to run.
Suddenly it flew up, grabbed me by the arm and jumped out the window. I tried to free myself, but its grip was immensely strong as it carried me away on its shoulder. I closed my eyes, expecting the worst.
I can remember seeing something mysteriously beautiful as I opened my eyes again while it carried me. Something I have never seen before. In the sky was a dynamic panorama of constantly transforming, swirling purple mist. Its beauty was entirely mesmerizing. I totally forgot that I was being carried off.
It wasn’t very long when it all faded suddenly. I opened my eyes and saw four white walls surrounding me. With a smile and a warm, comforting feeling overwhelming my body, I picked up my journal and wrote about the marvelous journey which I will always remember. It was only a dream.
