Baby Bear wakes up and smiles at his mother – as usual. He takes his pajamas off and put on his denim and t-shirt – as usual.
Baby Bear goes to the kitchen to have his porridge. Father Bear and Mother Bear are already there – as usual.
But something is wrong!
Baby Bear looks at his father. He is reading the newspaper – as usual. Baby Bear looks at his mother. She is in front of the stove – as usual.
What is wrong then? Then he sees it! Their bowls are empty!
“Where is my porridge?” he asks – as usual.
“It is still too hot” says his mother – not as usual.
“Put the porridge in the bowls.” his father said. “Let’s have a walk to allow it to cool down”
Mother Bear does as he said and Father Bear helps Baby Bear to put on his shoes and reminds him to take his hat too.
The go to the woods – as usual. Baby Bear chases the bunnies around. Their laughter is echoing through the wood. He rolls in the grass, gives Mother Mouse such a scare where she is wiping her front porch. Then he tickles the baby mice that play outside.
As they walk through the wood, Baby Bear sees Erik the squirrel. They usually enjoy playing together. Erik is rolling a huge acorn around. He and Baby Bear play with the acorn. Father Bear also joins in their game and rolls the acorn with them.
Suddenly Baby Bear’s stomach starts growling. He calls to Father Bear to come and listen to the thing in his tummy, arguing inside. Father Bear holds his ear against Baby Bears tummy and then he starts to laugh. “No my boy” he says. “You are starting to get very hungry. That is why your tummy is growling so much. It is telling you to get some food. Let’s go home now. I thing the porridge cooled down enough.”
Baby Bear runs ahead – as usual.
At home, he can’t wait to have his porridge and he runs ahead to the kitchen – as usual.
But something is wrong!
“Who ate my porridge?” Father Bear growls
“Who ate my porridge?” Mother Bear growls softly. Baby Bear runs to the table. His bowl is empty!
“WHO ATE MY PORRIGE?” he screamed loudly.
“Someone was here” said Father Bear and walks to the living room to see if he can find something. Mother Bear and Baby Bear follow him cautiously
“Who sat on my chair?” growled Father Bear and picked up his pipe from the floor.
“Who sat on my chair?” growled Mother Bear a little softer and picks up her cushions from the ground.
“WHO BROKE MY CHAIR!!!!” screamed Baby Bear.
Father Bear is now furious. He looks around and sniffs the air as he walks through the house. He starts to climb the stairs to their bedroom. Mother Bear follows him and Baby Bear does not run ahead as usual.
“Who lay on my bed?” he hears Father Bear’s voice.
“Who lay on my bed? He hears Mother Bear asks. Baby Bear runs to his bed as fast as he can.
He stops abruptly…on his bed lies a very strange teddy bear.
His mouth opens to say something, but he cannot speak. It is the most beautiful teddy bear he ever saw. A girl teddy bear with golden hair.
“Who lay on my bed?” he squeaks softly. “And look, here she still is!” Father Bear and Mother Bear hurries to his bed.
Just then, the teddy bear awakens. Before any of the bears could do anything, she screamed, jumps up and runs through the door, down the stairs and further and further from the bears house.
Baby Bear cried the rest of the day. He had to eat Weet-Bix because his porridge was eaten. He had to sit on the ground because his chair was broken. Tonight he has to sleep alone on his bead because his teddy bear ran away.
It was really his worst day ever!
