There was once a man who called himself the king of the Jews.
I was filled with dismay when I heard about this arrogant man. He said his father is God. There was to me not other king but Herodus, because I was Jewish.
“He must die!” was what I shouted with the crowd when Pilatus asked if we wanted Jesus or Barabas life to be spared.
On the day of the crucifixion I took my whole family to the city gates of Jerusalem, for them to witness how arrogance treats you.
This was for me a day of justice!
When I saw Jesus almost on his knees as a result of his struggle to carry the cross on his shoulders, a sarcastic smile appeared on my face, when I heard the pain and weakness in his prayers, my heart laughed with joy.
But…..a soldier came to me and instructed me to help him carry the cross. I didn’t believe in this man, and refused. The soldier threw me to the ground. The hatred towards this “King of the Jews” grew deeper in my heart.
My little boy started crying and shouted: “You can’t go, Daddy. They will kill you with him” Jesus assured my boy that he would watch over me. I looked at this ignorant man and pulled my hand back to punch him. I thought he wants to save me, while he was on his way to his own death.”
Then…..I looked into his eyes-the man whose disciple Judas betrayed Him, who knew Petrus would repudiate Him three times.
Someone who is looking upon the world through the eyes of it’s creator, that is why He lay His life before those who wants to kill Him. The only emotion I saw in His eyes, through the blood streaming down from the wounds of His thorn crown was unfailing love.
I took the cross from Him with tears rolling down my cheeks. I knew an innocent man was going to die, to save my life too.
I didn’t want to witness His death and ran from Golgotha with tears still burning in my eyes, when I heard Him say Father please forgive them for they know not what they do.
In the hour of total darkness when I couldn’t see His broken body, I gave my life to Him.
