what I see when I look at you
worlds of differences
continents apart
undiscovered territory
waiting for me to claim.
what I see when I look in your eyes
oceans sparkling with promises
the colour of the sea on a winter’s day
the first leaves to appear in spring
the last thought to leave my mind.
what I see when I look at your smile
the most amazing sight
taken from between the stars
sincere like the full moon
on a cloudless night
reflected in my eyes
your smile touches my bare soul.
what I see in your face
a perfect composition
a harmonious work of art
painted flawlessly
with a palette of perfection.
what I see in you
words can not describe
i try to capture
the very essence of you
on the canvas of my mind.
my being splashed with colour
you paint me red and pink and blue
careful brush strokes to portray your soul
pastels to colour your imagination
pencil sketches to define your words
warm red paint to draw your heart
and the finest of silver lining
to show what you mean to me.
i put my pencil down
i lay my brush in water
my pastels in their place
and I know that what I see
i know that the picture I’ve painted
is a perfect portrait of you.
