The klaxon sounds through the aircraft
as marines fasten their safety belts
the Hercules banks to the left in a spiral
dive from 28000 feet to land at Qalat Salih
in Iraq for the marines’ active duty in the war zone!
Around and around the big metal bird dives
through clouds and air pockets
down and down to 26000 feet the
marines ears burning as the pressure
decreases and still the bird
falls down...down
around and around she goes
and in a wink of an eye
the bird is at 10000 feet!
still falling around and around with
the anti-missile flashes
breaking behind the bird which at last
levels at 1500 feet with some
marines vomiting in their air sick bags!
and then...she flies strait on final leg for
runway 32 to land safely on the ground
for the marines to march out her
belly safe and sound between...
war or peace in the land of Babylon!
