When you feel like the whole world has gone mad
too many out there are just too often sad
you thank your stars you have days like today
just one day in the year you have the right to stray
to steer away from the normal, the obvious
and enjoy yourself in the more ridiculous
like ladies who have been on the shelf for long
suddenly be pregnant, or the taxman, oh forlorn!
everyone will be taxed on their electricity and fuel
or that cutbacks on our water supply will start.. ewe!
the British lotto has finally paid out their biggest yet
all they need is your banking info so the money you’ll get
your partner brings home a new pet, a hissing snake
or that the school wants you 100 cakes to bake
cheese has dropped in price to under a Rand
and Bill Gates have started a metalica band
someone has paid off your bond on your house
and your cat is suddenly allergic to mouse
all of us have our hopes and dreams,
and wish
that for us life would be plentiful on our dish
we make jokes on this day and banter and prank
sometimes, just for the smile we can thank
don’t be cruel though, what ever you do
coz your friends can do it back, in buckets to you
Have a get April Fool’s day, beware and alert
your prissy boss hasn’t really just changed into a flirt
slap slap
clap clap
instead of my usual kisses
but know
I send you laughter wishes
