Last night I dreamt a dream
a most peculiar dream
I was walking down spiral
staircase making my way
into a garden
The stairs were dim
but they were not eerie
I could see the light
I was almost down
when a hand reached out
towards me, I held it
as it helped me down
wondering who it was at the door
As I reached the bottom
I recognized him, It was him!
My old friend
how long had it been !
I embraced him
hugging him tightly my arms
around his neck
he had grown taller
much taller as I had heard.
I looked into his smiling eyes
they had never changed.
But then I saw you standing there
standing there just looking at me
neither happy
neither sad
just acknowledging me
my presence and nothing else
