I hear the silence all around
It smothers me as it grows
I hear my heart pound
As the blood pumps and flows
The earth is alive
Striving in its manic activity
Buzzing as bees in a hive
Civilization is the key
Then why do I feel so alone
In a world so crowded
My flesh is not of stone
I bleed also when wounded
I reach out my hand
Trying to touch the stars
But all I feel is drifting sand
As it courses through my embedded scars
Listen to my pain
Can you hear it
It’s driving me insane
In it’s dark, endless pit
Cast me a rope
To climb these walls of despair
Give me a glimmer of hope
For the loneliness I can no longer bear
Show me the sunlight
The path aligned with trees
Where the day is bright
And the air carries a breeze
Tell me you will walk by my side
Place your warm hand in mine
And although humanity is spread far and wide
