Why this compulsion
to notate, scribble, enunciate
this ephemeral moment
What drives this territorial pissing
these attempts to freeze transience
with so-called poetry
Why would I shift pigment
over alien canvas
into barely seen shapes
Why do I make this noise
that shudders clangs berates
Why be stuck on the sound
of my own voice
straining to articulate
differently
but coming up
time and again
with the same damn white noise
Hail the supreme being
the unique saluted
A slave of my need
to be heard
I’m starting to think
that I should not be putting my pen here
I should not be aiming my gun there
and I should keep it all to myself
