when telling you how I still can’t help but keen*2
like a lost banshee*3
when I remember
how my first colleen*4
and I
used to lie
in the clover
after a sip in the shebeen*5
Or went roaming
hand in hand
in the gloaming
of that emerald land
Or on a clear day strolling along the drumlin*6
where the grass was always green
and in the spring blue flowers bloomed
while wading birds sat and preen
themselves in the watery bog*7
All I have left now are the memories
