Looks are so deceiving and you wonder why
You at first only see people eye to eye
While they`re roaming about quite at their ease
Concealing a host of split personalities.
At the surface there is no detectable change
But, as soon as you move within closer range
You find many an unexpected piteous flaw
Internally chafing an old wound ever raw.
You thought what you needed, you now had for life
Though this brought you nothing but pain and strife
You hoped you were sharing and trusting above all
In love, meaning this was your highest call.
It is so sad to think that what you have found
Left you so distraught and down in the ground
Qualities you seemingly admired, were not there
You realised dreams were shattered pieces everywhere.
You came down to earth knowing all too sure
Circumstances like these you could no longer endure
But, you needed to pick up the threads and go forth
Reaching for your dream for whatever it was worth.
Fate works in such an unpredictable way
You never know what to expect of life any day
Even though you cannot always on others depend
You will find that gold at the rainbows end.
