really a two day feast
confusion reigns about the gods
is it Lupercus, Inuus or Faunus honored thus?
Palatine hill is where it is at; the Lupercal,
the cave in which, according to legend,
the wolf suckled Romulus who became
Luperci Quintilly
and Remus who became
Luperci Fabii
though not of olde
there is another satanic story....untold
for the ancients the Lupercalia was
a purification and fertility rite
baking cakes for Vestal Virgins
slaughtering and sacrificing
goats and a dog this nite
covered in blood two young men, then
wiped at the blood with wool dipped in milk
the Luperci lashes at maidens
with bloody strips of hide
a sign of fertility in times to come
then binding the strips
around their private parts and heads
much revelry and drinking
nakedness and sexual ritual
a wild party night
fun not to me missed
drawing the maiden's name from a gourd
joining together no matter with who
sex we will have come hell or high water
the heart pierced with the arrow
depicts the man as he pierces the woman
today they sell as a sign of love
when in fact it is a sign of whoring and lust
they even hang it about
the necks of their children
and many a heart to be seen on their clothes
they know not it is a woman's vagina
and has nothing to do with love
in 494 AD by the Pope's decree
it becomes a Feast of Purification
for Virgin Mary, Queen of Heaven is she
but christians the world over
think it great fun, celebrating the whoring and lusting
and joins in the feast with gusto and speed
hark my voice I am warning thee
an evil feast it is straight from the pits of hell
beware that thee do not the Devil believe
