Words are bullets that I shoot
from my fingers…
they destroy dictators in my life,
they vanquish those Hitlers and Napoleons
whose armies of hatred
and sarcasm are at the borders of my mind.
Words are butterflies that fly
from my fingers…
they color your world
they spread the seeds of love
and lightly twist and turn in the morning sun
that is reflected in your eyes.
Words are hailstones
that dance their destructive dance
from my fingers…
they cool down the fire
that sometimes burns so high
they numb the pain
that love inevitably brings.
Words are pixels
from my fingers…
that colour the pictures
on the computer screen of my life
sometimes in high resolution….
sometimes merely a vague image
a distortion of reality
a pale print of what once was…
Words are sledgehammers
that break people into pieces,
yet words are the glue
that, with painstaking effort,
can restore a fragile, broken heart
