staring at the ceiling,
the walls crushing in.
bright light faded
and
dark
tides
begin.
seeping from the hallway,
creeping ever closer...
no use in hiding,
dark forces once chose her.
hear the sound of the blackness,
scratching on tiles
wishing for light,
just..
for..
a..
while...
huddled in a corner,
pathetic
and so small;
pretending not the hear
the dark's h o l l o w call.
reaching for her mind,
tentatively
gripping.
coldness in that touch,
her conscious thought
slip-
slip-
slipping.
coarsing thru her mind,
the ebb,
and
the
flow.
the darkness consuming,
painstakingly
s l o w . . .
Screaming for help,
yet only
silence
remains...
trying again,
but trying
in vain.
feel the darkness -
touching her skin.
feeling it creep,
creeping within.
consuming all thought,
all power,
all will.
eyes staring blank now;
deathly.
and still
the darkness won,
and so it would seem...
till she wakes from her dream
with a
strangled
scream.
