How fast the days go by
since useless tears I no longer cry
How bright the sun does shine
on this new life that is mine
A memory of yesterday I can relate
Hope never comes too late
Uncountable days of darkness and doom
are vanishing steadily with each rising moon
Confusion, sorrow and pain
washed by life’s reality rain
the killer of logical thinking
no longer fed by binge drinking
Freed from the prison of my mind
The real me wasn’t too hard to find
the knowledge that has set me free
a light…..for me to see.
The scars are a memory of yesterdays fears
the silent pleading to deaf ears
now there’s only a little sadness and regret
that it took so long for me and me, to have met.
