Is your father still your father
if he goes away
and lets you stay
if he creates his own life
leaves his children and wife
if women and drink’n
is all he is think’n
puts his family to the side
goes somewhere to hide
if over the years
all he brought was tears
if no money he send
left you for yourself to fend
if he did not even show
to see his grandchildren grow
if he shows from time to time
only to score a dime
to pay for his dept
and the woman he kept
is he then still your father?
Is it then so wrong
if you grow strong
and in your heart detect
only years of neglect?
If you set yourself free
and fail to see
anything but the bad
in this man once called Dad
And in your heart you believe
he will again deceive
is it wrong then to close your door
cause you want no more
is this man still your father?
