Outside the storm is rumbling
We sit inside secured by the warmth of the cabin enclosing us
The fire burning slowly, crackling
The smell of wood and coffee hangs in the air
We sit across from each other
The heat of the coffee affectionate against our cold hands
I watch you through the steam dancing in front of my eyes
Making slow swirling movements into the air
Like fog on an early morning river
The gold glow of the fire reflecting in your sapphire blue eyes
You are lost in thought
I look at you- taking in your beauty
Your legs tucked casually underneath you
Your head tilted back exposing your tender neck
Looking closely I see the warm veins pulsing rhythmically
As the light of the fire dances against you
You sigh softly closing your eyes
Your long lashes secluding you from the rest of the cosmos
You are in your own world, lost in thought
The mug moves slowly towards your full lips
Your tongue tasting the hotness of the beverage
Swallowing gradually you let the warmth spread through your body
A single drop runs down your lower lip
I stare at it, transfixed leaning forward
My heart pounding as I feel the warmth of the cabin chocking me
My hand shift towards you
Your eyes open dreamily staring into nothingness and my hand stops just below your jaw line
You look up, catching me by surprise
My hand midway, lingering, trembling
Taking my hand you put it against your face keeping my gaze
I lean in towards you, slowly, tensed as you pull me softly but surely towards you
My eyes shift towards the single drop
Without realizing my mouth slowly savors it kissing it cautiously
You tremble as my tongue traces the lines of your strong face
Locking my arms around you, you pull me close….
And I wake up, realizing that you were just a subject of my illusion
