My heavenly Commander, humbly I kneel before Thee.
See my fear, listen to my request, my plea.
I now have to leave my secured, safe environment,
and due to crime, to unknown situations, be sent.
You teach us in Your word, that armor and protection we need.
To perform my daily tasks, that is so true indeed.
Facing murderers, rapist, violent criminals everyday,
this is the reason to Thee I pray.
Lord I now put my shoes on my feet.
Remind me to spread peace and to do and go, where ever I am in need.
Guide me not to go to a shebeen to temporarily still my worries in a bottle,
but to stand firm, stand my ground, against the daily crime battle.
Why does the public always see us, as corrupt and unjust?
Don’t judge us, don’t look at us in disgust!
The belt of truth, tightly around my waist I daily wear.
Lord I pray, open the eyes of the people to see it there.
My bulletproof vest heavy and hot, I desperately need
to protect me from the criminal’s violent deeds.
My breastplate reminds me to always do good and right to others.
To treat all, even my perpetrators, as my sisters and brothers.
When I put my cap on my head,
protect my mind, not to be disturbed to what I’ve seen or even read.
Children raped, woman beaten, the death of young and old.
The suicide of a fellow member, due to stress, I’ve just been told.
Lord, with a heart heavy with sorrow,
I admit, sometimes I don’t even live for or believe in tomorrow.
Too many painful memories, negative incidents revealed.
Restore my faith, cover me with Your love, Your shield.
The last thing I need is my gun.
To protect myself, and those who from criminals have to run.
When I feel it heavy on my side,
remind me that Your words will protect me and be my guide.
Whilst walking my beat to restore peace and fight crime,
I pray to Thee, to walk with me just one more time.
Lord, You taught me to always pray in Your name
and that everything Satan has stolen from me, to re-claim.
Thank You God for being able to return to my home, safe and sound.
Thank You that through Your love and protection, by Satan I will not be bound.
Thank You Lord, that You promised by my side You will stay.
Thank You Lord, that tomorrow I once again, to Thee can pray.
