Anyone can be a father.
It takes someone special to be a dad.
I miss you so much.
Why did you go away?
All I ever wanted was to be you’re little girl.
I tried my best to do everything right.
But still I was never good enough.
All those nights I lay awake.
Crying.
Wondering where you were.
What you where doing.
Whether you miss me as much as I miss you.
This mask I wear everyday.
Trying to act like nothing’s the matter.
Anger.
Resentment.
Fear.
All these emotions fill me everyday.
They eat at me like an incurable disease.
Do you know what you are doing to me?
Do you even care?
These wounds will never heal.
This pain will never go away.
It will only fade away to a slight tingle
every time I see a daddy with his daughter.
I will try to fill this hole
with people who want to love me.
With people who do care.
Maybe I don’t need you.
I’ve come this far without you anyway.
It’s just that…
Oh, never mind.
Who am I trying to fool?
You don’t care.
You never have.
And you probably never will.
If you did you would have been there:
to dry up my tears,
to pick me up,
to laugh with me,
to take care of me,
to teach me,
to take my fears away.
But you’re not!
I don’t even know where you are.
And unlike you, I do care.
I want you to be a part of my life.
I want to share things with you.
I need a daddy.
The daddy I had a long time ago.
Or did I?
Is that just another dream?
A fragment of my imagination.
I hope not.
These memories are all I have.
Probably all I ever will.
