She passed me, silently leaving
And the look in her eyes
Tore a hole in my chest
Froze the heart lying open
She wears that look everyday
But most people don't see it
Then again they don't notice her
She doesn't make herself known
Except to a few at a time
And she runs from those that want her
Coming back only to teach a lesson
A great inhibitor and yet
So motivating
She leaves me gifts in the hallways
Things I'm always cleaning up
And when confronted she only smiles
That sweet, wistful smile
Then turns and hides in the shadows
One teary eye watching me pass
Such a darling that hates her fate in life
She was once a happy girl
Till she became a ghost that disappeared
Into the tears she hasn't tried to stop
I try to sit and comfort her
But she only pushes me away
Her touch is like ice, freezing on my skin
But I bear the cold and stay
She deserved so much love from life
Abandoned with a chasm of pain
I grab her close, hold her, and stroke her hair
It never is long before Sadness,
Is happy again.
