I sit in solitary embrace
The moon high in the distance
My paths of life I must retrace
And find the reason for my existence.
Dancing in the shadows of the night,
Appears a Firefly - glowing bright.
[He softly hums to me…]
“Use my light to guide you, let me lead the way,
And together we will find a better brighter day.
Like lighthouses guide old sailors home
Use my light to guide you
Learn to swim the seas of life
The strength is there inside you.
Befriend your inner child
Let your light shine through
Be happy, free and wild
Above all else – Be you!
Life provides a thousand reasons to cry
But then a million to smile
Don’t bother with the question, why?
We’re all but here for a short while.
So listen up life traveler so battered and so weary,
Strike at life with all your might,
Nonetheless, rejoice in the journey.
And in sad times keep focused on your light.”
[Its task accomplished the Firefly left,
These were his parting words:]
“I merely emphasized what was already there
Assume each day to be your last and really live it.
If you’re alone reach out for me I’m everywhere
