To lay open to the possibility of rejection, of hurt
And so neither dare
When is the right time to say “it”?
Is there ever a right time?
If your read the signs wrong, will they turn away?
And so neither dare
The commitment of saying “I love you”
Is the commitment to say “I’m yours” and
A commitment for loss, through breakup through death
And so neither dare
So who will be the first
To say “I love you”?
I feel I do and the words haunt me when you’re near
But hurt too many times, I hold back

And so I do not dare
