Snip, snap, cut,
release from a murky past.
Birth water gushes,
carries me on a river
of new life.
I am born anew,
I have risen again.
Freed from imaginary ropes
I tied there myself.
No longer the victim
of an illusive enemy.
Was it ever really so strong?
The sun has arisen!
I watch with disbelief.
In my trembling hands I hold
a timely miracle.
Do I really not have to pay,
do more salaams
or go without food?
Snip, snap, cut.
I am no more the victim.

to carry on my own.
