If I was left where I was found
when I landed with a shout;
If I could have stayed just the same
as when I received my name,
If I was not shaped, moulded and
chiselled by those
who took me into custody:
Would I have been more open, freer,
more creative or loving?
Would I have had more compassion
for those who stumble along in an
awkward fashion?
What if I was taught that I
was good and strong
born in love and not sin?
Would I have been less stilted,
less afraid, looked strangers in the eye,
more daring, happier, more giving?
If I could find out who I
was meant to be-
May I return and then,
will you let me be?
