what the awful queen wanted to hear
was that she had no-one and nothing to fear
that the fairest maiden was no threat
as it was her own mortality she dread
but we always permit ourselves to ask
of all around us or in our reflections we bask
our diving uniqueness, our own vain
spelled out to us, in depth explain
why do we fear as the evil witch of past
whether our fair in other’s eyes will last
if the beauty in our hearts are what weighs
all else are fleeting lies…
