there’s a hole in my heart
where my day used to be
it doesn’t define you,
the stuff you’re to do..
said she
then why do I feel empty
and depleted at this
would sometimes almost believe
only this my life is
there’s a gaping wound in my heart
where my rest should feed
and the turmoil that hurries
in my mind now does bleed
it will not destroy me
I rebuke all claim
will strike it down
conquered
defeated
lame
but there’s still a hole in my heart
where my smile used to be
creating a future and
defeating the past exhaust me
today of all days I need my angels
to hold, to shroud
for my heart have given way
my silence is loud
I feel alone and defeated
yet again in this quest
and I know I should
keep finding my best
permit me this time
this defeatist plight
to feel sorry for myself
to choose today
flight
I know tomorrow will be better
heck, just now would do
‘cause I can imagine when reading this
I’ll hear from you
but alas, I apologise
I have no answers today
my antic disposition will pass..
that I can say
but, in the midst of the crowd
I feel empty and alone
and you know how it’s least
to which I’m prone
but there’s a gaping hole in my heart
where my day used to be
it has been replaced by silences
which are too much for me
