we hide in shadows and fear the light
our lines are blurred our edges fray
we unlearned to laugh and never pray
our angels died our saints are gone
we hate and know that love is wrong
a stranger came who walked our land
he called himself messiah and prophet
he preached and spoke of fearful deeds
of things we fear and never shall need
we ignored his words and avert our eyes
but with his words there came a curse
the curse of colour filled our life
all our world turned warm and bright
our hearts of stone and souls so cold
were filled with terror by this fearful world
as one we stood and made a choice
and nailed him to a cross
and as he died we realized
