You came into my life, quietly, like a breeze;
It was actually a dare, a joke, a tease
But, it came down good, love at first sight,
Glowing, burning, like the first morning light,
And it was good!
We were children of the field and the sun;
Amongst the rocks and dry river beds we had fun,
Playing, rollicking, in the winter wind,
Carefree, like birds, conducting heart and mind.
Enjoying the taste of love.
As if there were no troubles in the world,
We floated on clouds, life’s wings unfurled,
Flourishing in our prelude of love –
Light as feathers, hearts floating above
this overwhelming happiness.
Sadly, dreams never last forever;
We are humble mortals, not that clever;
Though nothing could mar our affection,
What time we had, we lived to perfection,
Too soon, we were parted by death.
