HIS WORDS
You.
The words… that linger longer than bruises ever could
The words… that fester faster than wounds ever would
The face that covers the brain, the lips and tongue that form the words
Your words, your face, your brain, your lips, your tongue….
The years folded and packed away is stained by what was said and done.
You came knocking on my door a life time ago…
I should never have let you in, the sum of us was and is a miscalculation.
The words that do not ring true, the words that linger longer.
The words that tear apart, the words that fester faster.
My World.
My sons, my sun and moon, I wish I was more patient.
The rush to be one of two, now I am one, with one in tow.
My bright lights, my hope that waits at the end of every dark tunnel,
What have I done to you?
The father on offer is one without a coffer…
My heart that travels in your shoes, my sun, my moon, my day, my night…
What have I done to you?
His words, that linger longer, that fester faster, has taken the purity of our souls,
And stained it.
We spend our hours crammed with minutes of fear, seconds of trepidation,
From arrival to departure, and back again.
His words, his face, his lips, his tongue… the cancer that eats away at our family.
He is the poison, there is not antidote.
He denies his words, his actions, his presence darkens the skyline
He is the darkest tunnel.
My sons, my sun and moon if only I was more patient.
My day, my night, would you have been if not for my rush to be one of two?
Is the past 15 years wasted when I look at the sun set and the moon rise?
This mistake, this miscalculation is made right by your being.
This life, my life given a purpose.
The hours we spend between seconds and minutes of fear and trepidation,
Has the love and laughter we need to recharge.
By God’s grace we have each other.
His words, his face, his brain, his lips, his tongue, the words that last longer, that fester faster,
Will not outlive, outlast or overcome us…. We have each other
