under the stars I stand staring at destiny

why we breathe, why we bleed
why people change and others don't
why we cry, why we laugh
why we lie and why we cheat
why do some seem happy when they're not
why do we always find things
once we've already stopped looking
why we believe in things we have never seen
and trust people we've never trusted
so I stare at the sky
waiting to be answered
waiting to see that shooting star
that I missed
it never comes
yet it never leaves
so I wait with tears in my heart
for the beauty to set me free
