How my heart felt
when I saw you that day
You were way out of my league

But deep down I knew

Long after that
I saw you again
Friends spurring me on
to tell you my name
With nothing to lose
I accepted the dare
Thinking that your kind
would anyway not care
Standing before you
Blue eyes piercing my soul
My world bowled over
when you stated your goal
Were the words on your lips
“I’m going to marry you”
My heart echoing
“I love you too”
Now, fourteen years later
my life so fulfilled
I look back and realise
it was Divine will
For God knew just how
to heal a heart so barren
