others say I’ve lost my mind
to not give up, that I’m being too kind
but how do I give up on you
when I thought you were my dream come true
we are sadly in this revolving door
answers and patience I have no more
from this coma I wish you to awake
for both our survival, our sanity’s sake
Instead you awake from it after every fight
and promises to try harder with all you might
but soon this also meets its inevitable fate -
what if you wake up one day and it’s too late?
they make movies and write books of such things
of how brain damaged lady every morning begins
as if yesterday never existed and learns from scratch
who her loved ones are and how her world to patch
at last check, my love, you were fine
which sadly brings me to these questions of mine
you’re not in a coma, diseased you’re not
and what I’m asking you is not nearly a lot
if I have to teach you how to love me, I’m concerned
‘cause you see, this is where I’ve previously been burned
but if I have to, I will,…. hang on, I have before
many times I’ve fallen to my knees, begging, on the floor
but the clocks turns again back to square one
as if the process has just for the first time today, begun
I can’t fight a coma, I can’t reboot everyday
‘cause the notes I leave you…
you keep throwing away
