"Amongst the debris of a destroyed forest, Kyo lay bruised and bloodied. Every inch of his body screamed out with pain against any attempt to move. Tired and beaten, Kyo’s only option was to throw in the towel. Yet the night sky seemed to quell the approaching menace. “You’re a fool,” says the sinister, calm voice from within, “If you had given yourself to me, we wouldn’t be sitting here waiting for you to die.” In spite of the warning, Kyo smiled with the stars. Still smiling, his head slumped down. The fatigue and injuries has taken its toll. The voice stirred again, “Just look at you. You’re a wreck. I refuse to die along with you! I’ll take care of this.” Suddenly, the air changed to an almost unbearable chill. Realising the imminent end, the voice inside quickly turned to desperation, “Quickly, let me out! LET ME OUT!!” screamed the voice inside Kyo.
“I know what will happen if I let you take over while I’m this weak, and I can’t take that risk!” barked Kyo firmly. A deafening and nauseating shrill suddenly filled the forest, reaching Kyo’s ears. The sound infiltrated his hearing sense with much ferocity. The atmosphere reached an intense sense of malice as the insane laughter drew closer. Sensing this threat now meters away, Kyo quickly tried to move in to a defensive position, but not quick enough as a sword pierced his right shoulder, sticking him to a tree. A trifle injury compared to those he’s already sustained.
“What happened, Kyo?” asked the ethereal figure, mockingly, drawing nearer. A tall, ominous body slowly moved out of the dust, grinning broadly. With piercing green eyes, the outlined figure stood proudly before Kyo in the moonlight as he looked down upon his victory.
Kyo stared back defiantly. “You had better not come any closer,” he said boldly. Not wanting to let slip the fact that he is helpless, he has to choose his last words very carefully. He continues with an assertive tone, “You have no idea what I’m capable of when I’m backed into a corner!” Perhaps Kyo’s bravado may have been too much as the figure staring down at him hadn’t flinched.
“This is your end, ‘Dreamwalker’,” he said with a tone of certain enjoyment. But Kyo heard not a word. The fight to stay conscious is now over. “You’re pathetic,” said the voice inside, obviously disappointed in his vessel. Drifting into unconsciousness, he caught one last glimpse of the brightest star. With one last breath, Kyo embraced the end."
