Little Fockers is an American film starring Ben Stiller. The film is a feel good comedy about a man that must try to handle all the pressures of his family, especially his paranoid father in-law, who wrongfully suspects him of, amongst other things, cheating his wife.
As a comedy, Little Fockers is a very successful film, as it made me laugh. Of course it will not make everybody laugh, but that is comedy. There are other films that are considered funny but never once made me laugh. A good measure stick is asking yourself if you find Ben Stiller funny in general, because this film is a classic Ben Stiller kind of humour film. Just like there is something like classic Leon Shuster humour, or Jim Carrey . If you do not typically like the films of Ben Stiller, then try hard to avoid this one.
Having had to watch this film together with very close family members, I was worried that it was going to be too much swearing and jokes below the belt. I was suppressed to find very little swearing in Little Fockers (except for the characters saying the words ‘Jesus’ and ‘god’ all the time, which will offend the very religious amongst us somewhat). As for the sex jokes, it is also executed very well. In one of the scenes, Ben Stiller’s character has to give his father-in-law a penile injection after he swallowed pills supposed to increase one’s sex drive. After having swallowed the pills grandpa’s erection becomes uncontrollable. While Ben Stiller’s character is giving his father-in-law the injection in his penis, his son enters the bathroom on his way to the toilet and comes across his father and granddad in a very awkward situation.
Enough said. Little Fockers is not the kind of film that one would think back to when you are on your death bed, but it is very entertaining, if entertainment is what you are looking for. 7/10
