When I was listening to Highveld stereo playing Celine Dion’s “A new day has come” this morning it triggered memories of my wedding day.
I normally don’t like soppy songs but this song touched my heart since it came out, and even though this song was written to Celine’s baby boy it still had a similar meaning to the way I felt when I met my husband and soon after married him.
The words seemed perfect, earlier years I always used to pray and ask “Lord, when is it my turn?” but the answer didn’t come soon enough to my liking and I gave up on love.., I made peace with being single and became one of those people who tried everything in life at least once and in the end I never wanted to get married anymore, life became too much fun, everyone thought I had it all, but deep down I always had a missing piece, but I was scared to love and wouldn’t allow myself to ever get hurt, for years I thought I could run from true love, but love found me at the age of 31…
I wanted to share these famous words but in the context of how I felt about meeting my dream husband. This was the song I chose when I walked down the aisle, weird but perfect for how I felt…
Quoted from Celine Dion’s song:
“I was waiting for so long
For a miracle to come
Everyone told me to be strong
Hold on and don’t shed a tear
Through the darkness and good times
I knew I’d make it through
And the world thought I had it all
But I was waiting for you
Hush, now
I see a light in the sky
Oh, it’s almost blinding me
I can’t believe
I’ve been touched by an angel with love
Let the rain come down and wash away my tears
Let it fill my soul and drown my fears
Let it shatter the walls for a new sun
A new day has come…
Where it was dark now there’s light
Where there was pain now there’s joy
Where there was weakness, I found my strength
All in the eyes of a boy” (in my case “Man” not boy)
Like I mentioned, these words once again brought a smile to my face this morning, and even though love is not always a bed of roses, sometimes a bed of nails… true love is worth waiting for, worth every bit of hard work to make it work. Sometimes it’s easy, sometimes not… but I’ve definitely been touched by an angel with love…
