Bites

How often do we try to fill our lives with things – cars, friends, money, - you name it and there is probably someone who has tried it or done it! Why do we try to fill our lives with all these things? Is it because we are empty? Maybe it is because we have lost the contact with, and ability to trust in God! We need to remember that if we are full of earthly things, then there is no place for God in us. We are sometimes so full of ourselves, so full of the power that we possess (we think so…!), so full of who or what we are through our achievements, our money, our cars, our houses or even our positions. The world (we) have become full of nothing. There are too many things and every time we speak to someone or see something, we want it as well.

God says to us that this is the wrong way to try and fill our emptiness. He says that He is the only one that can meaningfully fill the emptiness. But for Him to be able to fill us, we need to become empty. We need to get rid of all the meaningless things in our lives. We need to become nothing, not our possessions, money, job, title or anything else must stand in the way. We need to get rid of the ego that we have, because with an ego, there is no place for God. The problem is that we get taught by the world system that it is everybody for himself / herself and the devil for the rest…! That is exactly what is happening, everybody just fights for the “self” – everybody only cares for what is happening in his / her life and we are not prepared to serve one another. We are so full of ourselves and there is no space for others. We see this in marriages happening, in relationships, in business, in church, yes, all over and in every sphere of life. Sad is the state that we find the world (ourselves) in, and even sadder is that the truth is there for everyone, but we choose to ignore it, we choose not to know the truth but rather to believe the lie. We want to be in control, we want to fill our own lives with the desires of our hearts.

God says that He knows the every desire of our hearts. God says that if we put Him first in everything, that He will give us what we ask for. He says that we do not receive, because we do not ask, and we do not pray. Now what happened people? Why are we in such a sorry state? Easy – the world (Satan) has spread a rumour, this rumour has become a lie and we perceive this lie as the truth. Even Christians today are filling their own lives with what we think is right. God wants us to be totally empty of all our own ideas and of everything that we think is important. Once we are empty – He can start filling us – just look at the widow that had to gather as many empty containers to pour the oil into – as soon as the emptiness ran out – the oil stopped. Do you see how you have to become empty and allow God to fill your emptiness? Jesus also said that He is the living water, and that who-so-ever drinks of this, will never thirst again – God knows that we are filled with no lasting substance and that we are in actual fact empty, He knows what is missing in our lives, He knows everything and He waits for everyone of us to empty ourselves, allowing Him to fill us with what we really need – God!

So – how empty are you really, how willing are you to empty yourself? How willing are you to allow God to fill you with the real deal, with His love and His truth? Are you too full of the world, too full of yourself, to be emptied? It is up to you – it is your decision!
