It is with great concern that I tried to influence the issue of the publication of the poem “Desmond Mpilo Tutu” by the author Gert Strydom. My biggest concern was for the image of Mabooki as well as its “sister site” (the ‘Afrikaans version’ of Mabooki) www.woes.co.za, since Gert’s ‘poem’ was published on both.
Despite confronting Gert and demanding proof of the sources he used in stating that Tutu said on television that Jesus is/was not God incarnated but simply a mere man, Gert failed to provide me with a clear reference like for instance a newspaper article or credible website. The only answer I got was that he is in possession of “DVD’s” but he did not even provide me with the names of these. He could only direct me a search engine to try and find the information, which I of course did with no success.
I also complained with the admin of woes.co.za, reporting the matter with the means at my disposal, but as has happened so often before, I was greeted with no feedback or response of any kind. My complaint has thus far been simply ignored.
By hurting the image of Mabooki and www.woes.co.za, Gert not only hurts the website’s image but also everybody else involved including every contributor. This is very discouraging and of course it is even more discouraging that there is little that I could do in order to start a conversation about this issue. All my attempts came to nothing.
There comes a time to stop wasting one’s time on unfruitful attempts at initiating a discussion. But the whole matter leaves a bitter taste in my mouth to say the very least. That time has now come for me. I now accept the fact that this matter is not of the same priority to others as it is to me, but please do take note of my humble attempts.
