What does it mean to be ‘politically correct’? The way I see it, being politically correct means that one acts in the way it is expected of one. Thus being ‘politically correct’ has almost obtained the status of a curse amongst some people. Being ‘politically correct’ is often blamed for many of the problems we have in the world today, because the idea is that people very often choose to do and say wrong things in order to be ‘politically correct’ and in that way avoiding trouble.
But perhaps the problem lies with the word ‘politically’. What does politics entail? Does ‘politically’ correct include social behaviour? When is one crossing the line between being ‘politically incorrect’ and just plainly having bad manners? I believe the distinction should be often pondered.
