What makes you happy?
That is not a question you hear very often. People assume you are happy about the same thing that makes them happy. I was asked an opinion about diamonds a few weeks ago. Every woman loves a diamond, but my reaction was that it looks like a bunch of glass pieces. The other person was quite shocked, asked if I was feeling well. That made me think. Just what is it that really, truly makes me happy?
You know, quite a lot came to mind. I could not believe it, so I decided to take only the very best of the best and ended up with the following:
• Dew – or raindrops on a rose, carpets and carpets of cosmos next to the road
• Baby animals, Springbuck, hopping about in the veld and Kudu next to the road, with his neck held proudly
• A water stream, flowing between ferns
• Birds, bathing in puddles, Butterflies
• A baby, smiling when he wakes up and my children, when they were babies, with their heads on my shoulder while I sang them to sleep.
• My eldest daughter’s curly hair, the youngest one’s laughter and jokes and my husband’s smile when I tease him.
• Two old people, still holding hands.
• The children at school, with their arms around my neck and children playing and laughing
• A beautiful story, especially when it was written just for me.
• A beautiful movie, people laughing.
• Sunset, the rainbow.
Not very shiny or glamorous, but affordable, the whole lot of them and I cannot get enough of them too. So maybe I am not too well for feeling this way, but that is who I am.
I am what I am as the song goes.
