When I was at school, didn’t like it. Know I’m not the only one. Took me years to realise why mathematics is so important. Wasn’t until I started studying (privately) philosophy that I came to realise how powerful maths really is. And yet, I still think it’s value is overestimated. Mathematics as an instrument to a better life is only REALY useful as part of some other study like engineering, medicine, financial studies and the like. To study math undergrad as part of a degree of any sort can in most cases only help you to become a maths teacher. In fact, in many careers, maths is a pretty useless subject, you only need basic maths.
It is much more important to teach people respect for each other than anything else, why is mathematics made to be so immensely important? In many instances, science and math has caused the human race lots of sorrow!
