President Jacob Zuma’s promise to provide more jobs this year for South Africans is at its best wishful thinking and at its worse a lie. But misleading the public is what politicians do, and the government is great at this. Despite the looming rise of inflation and a possible sharp rise in the prise of food, the government is making promises of more jobs. Let us not forget that the ANC-led government also promised these jobs a year ago, and the every other year there is the same talks, but nothing happens. Politicians get richer and the poor becomes poorer.
The emphasis on land redistribution is a conflicting issue. History has shown that every time the land is redistributed, countless jobs are lost because the new owners do not employ people to do the work but rather work the land themselves. How then are the government going to provide these jobs for the masses?
And then there was Julius Malema. What a strange character he is, warning South Africans that business cannot continue to be in the hands of white men. What does he mean by this? Is he suggesting that people must be disowned?
I think the paranoia is maybe unnecessary. It is strange that the ANC continue to absorb mister Malema, because he does the party’s image a lot of damage. There must be some kind of value that he adds to the party. The truth is that mister Malema has only known one kind of rhetoric his whole political career, why would he change now? One must remember that this is a man who refused to acknowledge that the MDC was cheated from their majority in parliament in Zimbabwe by means of election fraud and intimidation. This is a man who makes sexual insults against the leader of the opposition to the extent that the ANC women’s league criticised him.
Mister Malema is a man that can be very heartless at times, singing songs about killing people when thousands of South Africans die each year in preventable violence witch the government cannot seem to control. Why are we so surprised to hear him speak this way?
