Completely unplanned, we stumbled upon this stunning café one Saturday while traveling through The Strand. To our surprise it surpassed even our wildest expectations.
Permit me to tell you about Belgian Waffle House situated in Beach Rd, Strand. Nestled at the far foot of the Hottentots Holland Mountains, this small but quaint coffee shop is a refreshing change to our normal mould. Getting to actually order took us longer than usual, as the menu was quite a conversation piece. Every inviting menu was a charming, different magazine cover of Belgium, neatly laminated and bound. We were already sold, but meeting the warm and friendly Evi guaranteed our loyalties and thus, our prompt return.
Expecting a little change to our usual traditional waffles, we ordered three different Belgian Waffles and yes, ‘Wow!’ leaves a lot more to be said. The food here turned out to be an experience of soft cloudlike bliss with tantalising, no-holds barred celebration of textures and tastes.
Belgian Waffle House is a small yet very efficient and well worth the effort-stop on your travels through the area. The prices are very reasonable and trust me, the fluffy cloudlike texture and tantalising taste sensation of the food can only be equaled by the warm and homey atmosphere of the staff.
