There was something there. This quiet moment was as if under the magnifying glass. The hammering of the farriers drew to a faint tapping in the background and the serene sight here in front of me was captivating. Unlike most of the horses in this yard, Kalbassie’s 11hands build matched her small physique. Almost as though that in itself ensures their connection, instantly harnesses the empathic caring of what exactly these people really do and mean to these animals.
Instinctively she draws the horse closer and places her face down on his muzzle. Small, her hands folds over his nostrils and his breathing slows down to meet the quiet of this beautiful sight. His eyes contently absorbed in her soft caring glance, as if they are in a world of their own. For a few minutes time stands still.
Almost invasive in this calming moment our cameras capture this sight, hoping that the lens would tell the story and capture the atmosphere. But the truth is in their eyes, a telltale of understanding, of trust. He lets her hold this frame for long, as if to desire of the calmth and rest in her embrace for as long as this moment could possibly grant him. She softly mumbles a whisper in the velvet of his soft hair…a shared promise of kind mind, of sympathetic understanding and of appreciated beauty. His nostrils flicker as if to drink in every word, capturing her breath of healing touch.
And she closes her eyes and floats away in his world of majestic beauty…
and in his mind he is a grand mustang with flowing mane…
