It was the first year for Fleckvieh to have a booth at the SA Cheese festival at Bien Donne’ in April 2009. Average of 8000 people a day attended the festival. We were surprised when the Fleckvieh booth was nominated as the best booth in the category “Milk factory”.
Fleckvieh originated from the German Alp’s. A big painting with the Alps as background formed the centre of the booth. 2 Fleckvieh cows (one Fleckvieh/Holstein cross cow) were exhibited wearing big bells from the Alp region around there necks. In the background German umpa music where played, putting the mood right for every person who visited the booth.
Especially woman and children liked to touch the live animals.
