For years and years I imagined that I had not changed too drastically, but now the aging process cannot be ignored. In twenty-two days time I will be celebrating my fiftieth birthday. Wow that is old!
My wrinkles can’t be ignored, my eyesight has gone to hell. Large print looks like fine print and fine print is just lines. Creams, vitamins and special diets will now become a way of life. My hormone deficiency controls my mood swings. Oh how I miss them! The hormones I mean, not the mood swings! Hormones are the fountain of youth, giver of smooth elastic skin, the keeper of femininity and the firewall of age creeping in.
Oh my golly! I’m still too young to be old! I still dress like a kid, and that’s not all sometimes I act like one too. I’d rather wear my old soft blue jeans than anything else and I’m too young for sensible shoes or necklaces!
Denial, it’s a thing that millions of people in mid-life crisis go through. Aging is a killer, especially when I wake up in the morning convinced that I’m still in my thirties until I feel the pain of Arthritis in my feet and joints. There is always an unexpected “eina!” that escapes from the depths of my “inner Grandma” when I swing my legs over the motorbike while riding pillion.
What happened to my twenties and thirties? Why didn’t my brain grow older as well?
I still love Jelly Tots! I still wear my Crocs and shorts! Sometimes I still think about what I want to do when I grow up!
Men my age resemble my father for goodness sake! (Does that mean I resemble my mother???)
Do I need my head read? Nah, I like being a brunette!
Enough already, I’m beginning to get on my own nerves!
