Getting old is a process that we cannot ignore. No matter how much money we have or how many facelifts we can buy, age is preordained! I am sure that we are all occasionally overcome with waves of panic by the realization that we will never be young again. This is what my “not as old as he thinks he is” Hubby wrote on this subject today.
“I awake and look in the one-way glass, what I see frightens me. Not so much as in scary like Boo! But this is not what I want to see - this is not me! I turn away and I am young, I look back and I have aged. Is this the process of time?
I move around and joints that did not exist yesterday ache like mad today. I look down at my hands and see skin that old and gnarled. I see spots that I have not seen before.
This is time and life that we are looking at. The hair is grey but the eyes are bright, bright enough to see that age is visible and time has taken its toll.
But with this toll has come love, joy and wisdom. I leave the room with the one-way glass, old, wise and grateful.”
These are my thoughts on this subject…
My inspiration for the future comes from seeing couples in their golden years walking together, holding hands and sharing a smile. It makes me believe that growing older with my Hubby, sharing a lifetime of love and commitment is actually a wonderful thing to look forward to.
Today I embrace Hubby and I am filled with gratitude for all that I have experienced in my life and for all the marvelous things still to come.
And this is my message to him….
Dance with me to the rhythm of our love. Walk with me through life; and let us hug each other at every step of our journey forever!
