Aren’t us women just the limit when it comes to men? Ranting and raving… men this, men that! Well today it’s my turn. My issue is this, you see every Thursday night Hubby, Frankie (my friend who is Hubby’s son) and I go slot car racing at the club. Being the only woman there was quite intimidating in the beginning, especially when the guys looked at me with their silly little sarcastic smiles and made snide remarks like, “oh, that one will be easy to beat!” But I simply smiled back at them while thinking, “you stupid @#%*@! Big bad toys ain’t just for boys!”
All bark and no bite or should I say, all foam and no beer, that’s all it is. It didn’t really bother me because I knew they would come around soon enough and if they didn’t then I’d just have to beat them at their own game. Men think that they are superior to us because they have bigger muscles but what we women lack in physical strength we make up for in mental superiority!
There’s this guy at the club who I’m sure fell out of the stupid tree and hit every branch on the way down. He is the type of man that is condescending to women. When I get to the club on a Thursday night he smiles at me and asks: “Why aren’t you practising, don’t you want to put points on the board tonight?”
I am woman – hear my wit! I reply sweetly, “Only people that can’t drive need to practise, that’s why I’m letting you have the track. Remember Buddy, if you ain’t on the gas I’ll be right up your ass, ready to pass!”
You can imagine my elation, therefore, when two weeks ago I was the overall winner in the club, and last week I gave the club winner a good run for his money! I practically had him sweating on that racing podium and the mere idea that I might beat him almost made him cry like a baby.
Of course when I do perform better than they do they say it’s because I’m cheating so they check my car for magnet weight and then they check my tyres etc, etc. When they realise that my car is actually race legal they tell me it was only a fluke and it’s unlikely to happen again! What a cheek! Scared, that’s all they are!
It’s Thursday again and my cars are race ready and eager to go, as am I.
Hold thumbs for me and see you at the races.
