We were watching a movie on TV this morning and there was a scene where this guy had to find his ex girlfriend. So he remembered that she wore this really expensive and exclusive perfume that they sold at a certain shop and that was how he eventually tracked her down. Arriving at the store the lady folded herself out of the car swept her long hair out of her face and literally glided to the store entrance.
That was when it happened. Hubby looked at me smiling and said: “If I ever lose you I’ll just go around all the stores that sell Cinnabar and ask whether they have seen a funny short little lady asking for Cinnabar.”
“Why, don’t you think I’m sophisticated?” I asked.
“No, but I think you’re cute, you smile a lot and walk funny.”
This comment got me laughing of course – I always laugh! But it also got me thinking. Weighing up in my mind whether I’d rather be sophisticated or whether I’d rather just be cute and funny.
I choose cute and funny because that’s the way I am, if I ever had to go around acting all snooty I wouldn’t be happy. So to me that means sophisticated people can’t be very happy because they are deprived of naturalness and simplicity. I think I would rather keep a child-like, simple unsophisticated attitude towards life.
I can’t see our twenty-year relationship lasting more than five seconds if I were to deny who I am, or if Hubby were to deny who he is. Many times we were in such despairing situations and something funny would happen and we would both end up in helpless giggles thanks to our sense of humour. Laughter and love have kept us together all this time so why give it up now?
Two of the three things that attracted Hubby to me in the first place were my intelligence and my sense of humour; the third was my sexy body. I gave that sexy body to an underprivileged younger girl quite a while back so I reckon I’d better keep the other two around for as long as possible, don’t you?
