Since we’ve returned from our vacation I seem to have become slower. On holiday one would call this ‘a relaxed state’ but here in normal life it is known as being sloooow! Okay, so Eagles may soar, but then again Tortoises do not get sucked into jet engines!
Let me tell you that this rainy cold weather doesn’t help me very much either, if my boss thought I was slow yesterday he should see me today! I tried telephoning in with the excuse that I have used up all my leave days as well as all my sick leave days so today I’m calling in ‘dead’. It didn’t work!
I will catch up the backlog you know? I work well under pressure. My motto is this: “If it weren’t for the last minute a lot of things wouldn’t get done.” I call it ‘multitasking’ but my boss (who by the way is Hubby) calls it a total balls-up! I wonder why? I also say that the sooner you fall behind the more time you have to catch up!
Now to keep the peace I pretend to work and at the end of the month Hubby pretends to pay me. (In Zimbabwean dollars.) Oh, you haven’t heard! President Robert Mugabe came up with a brilliant solution for the shortage of money in Zimbabwe. He is just going to print more money that’s all! Wow, why didn’t anyone else think of that?
Reminds me of my grandkids when I tell them that I have no money for this or that, they simply point me in the direction of the nearest auto bank and say, “just put your card in the slot, the machine’s got lots of money!”
Talking about economic problems, especially the hike in petrol prices. All around me I hear complaints about the steep cost of fuel but it really hasn’t affected me in any way. I stop at the garage and ask the attendant for “one hundred rand petrol please.” and I swear I still pay one hundred rand for it! Okay I do admit that my one hundred rand doesn’t get me as far as it used to though. Aha, fooled you… I’m not that stupid; I actually put one hundred and fifty rand in now!
Final thought…
Have you ever wondered why there is always so much month left at the end of the money?
