“He who catches joy as it flies
Lives in eternity’s sunrise.”
- William Blake.
Often in our lifetime we all experience shining moments, moments so special and so rare that we know these are the moments that we will remember for a lifetime. When these moments happen, I reckon we should wrap them up tightly and store them away in our hearts where all the happy and good memories are stored. These moments, if stored away safely can always be taken out at a later stage when we are down and blue to remind us that it is the little things in life that make us the most happy.
We should celebrate the little moments as much as we do the great moments in our lives. A baby’s gurgle or a child’s innocent laughter, looking into someone’s eyes and seeing your love reflected there. Dancing together in the living room and adding a dash of silliness just for fun.Holding hands and sharing a secret joke, laughing until your cold drink comes out of your nose, these are things worth celebrating.
My grandchildren tell me that believing in magic makes life more fun, so now I do. I love life! I have sometimes been despairingly unhappy and my heart has been wracked with sorrow, but despite all that I still know that I love being alive! Far away in the clouds are my dreams, I may not reach them, but I can look up and see the beauty, believe in them and try to follow where they lead.
Beauty, truth, friendship, love, creation – these are the great values of life. We can't prove them, or explain them, yet they are the most stable things in our lives.
